Class 5 Assignment 7 - Smithsonian
Here are my screenshots and thoughts on the world thus far...I thought the world had a lot of neat graphics (deer, possum, flowing water, and really cool pier) the scenery was a little strange though. I tried to "board" the boat but fell to the bottom of the ocean and as you'll see in my screen shots, I somehow couldn't get rid of the Osprey and Fish buttons...overall nice job.
Class 5 - Assignment 6 - Clone-head
For this assignment I chose to get rid of my hair...it's typically a
source of happiness or grief for most women, but I wouldn't change
it...growing gray hairs and all...Got me thining though, if I could
change one thing about my appearance what would it be ????? Models and
actresses get to morph into any body type they choose, when you and I,
average joe's or joan's stay within the shell we were given. Take a

Body Image & The Photoshop Effect
I think that the relationship between how you "think" you look, how you "feel" you look and what you actually look like is all linked to today's perception of how you are "supposed" to look. A person who feels comfortable in their skin is not worried about how they are perceived by others. I feel that the photoshopping effect is having such a negative impact on young girls perceptions of themselves. Seeing the celebrities photoshopped and looking flawless constantly is not realistic, everyone has a bad hair day, or a bad skin day or a day when they feel "fat". Unfortunately those images of celebrities in their natural state are not what this generation focuses on and part of the reason we have an epidemic of eating disorders and self-mutilating young teen girls. It is crazy to me that a size 6 is considered overweight in the modeling world, what are we teaching young girls of today.
I found this video on YouTube and found it quite impactful. Be you, beautiful you is my message to the young girls growing up in our society trying to fit the "celebrity mold".

In the modeling and fashion industry they can say brutal comments towards woman and scrutinize their beauty according to their own rigorous standards. Photoshopping may alleviate some of this behavior.
Not that I am agreeing with the unattainable standard; which if manifest as a true standard not only desired but actualized would be terrifying. It also makes perfection out of the generic. Meaning the generic standard of look used to edit photographs becomes the ideal of perfection. Wheras I believe that perfection need also be seen in the unique."
